The Chi Apso is a small designer breed dog, the result of crossing a Chihuahua with a Lhasa Apso.

The Chihuahua/Lhasa Apso mix is also known as the Lhasa Chi. This is a spunky and loyal dog which brings together the unique blend of playful nature of the Lhasa Apso and the sassy Chihuahua. These dogs pack a lot of attitude but loving being a part of the family.
The Appearance
The Lhasa Apso is small dog weighing 10 to 20 pounds and standing 8 to 11 inches tall with a long and sturdy body.
They have deep brown eyes, medium size black muzzle, and floppy ears.This breed has well defined small teeth, and the jaw may present with a slight under bite (like the Lhasa Apso parent).
They usually have thick, dense, double coat which may be golden, brown, tan, cream, white and black in color or the combination of any two.

Temperament
The Chi Apso is a sweet, intelligent, and a gentle dog. They love cuddling and enjoys receiving lots of love and affection from his family.
This is a fun-loving and friendly breed and makes a great dog for a family, couple, kids, or single owner looking for companionship.
Your Chi Apso can either be very quiet and cautious, or very dominating or protective. They may behave stubborn at times which makes their training a task. These toy dogs may suffer from separation anxiety if left alone for long duration.
Care ~ Exercise
The Chi Apso relatively require low activity and they are not a demanding canine. A couple short walks, jogging each day and some active playtime with toys in the park or indoors in a yard will keep him happy, healthy and mentally stimulated.
Grooming
The Lhasa Apso Chihuahua Mix is a low to moderate maintenance dog. They shed moderately with loose hair lying around the house. Brush their coat in 2-3 days to keep their hair untangled and debris free.
Bathing should be done only when your dog is dirty and is needed with a good dog shampoo. Take your dog to the groomer every 5 to 7 weeks in order to tidy up the coat and keep it in nice shape.
Other grooming needs are like any dogs, like trimming the nails, cleaning the ears to avoid infection, brushing their teeth and more. All this will keep your dog neat, tidy and healthy.
Health Problems
A Chi Apso is a fairly healthy dog with an average lifespan of 12-15 years. However, it can inherit some health issues from its parents who have not been cleared of certain issues like;

Training
These dogs are little hard to train for first time dog owners. They might behave independent and stubborn at time and not respond to training sessions. However, a calm and positive trainer will be able to handle them well.
Positive reinforcements and rewards will work well with them.
Obedience training with commands from its puppy hood day will nurture him nicely.
Early socialization is required for the pups so that they are even tempered and do not shy away or become restless or scared with strangers.
Food/Diet
The Chi Apso is a small dog that needs a top quality dry food/kibble specifically designed for his size and lifestyle. Do not over do the treats or over feed your pooch as their low physical activity may lead to obesity. Try to give him 2-3 small meals instead of 1 full meal with balanced nutrients.
Registries
Not being a pure-bred, the Chi Apso is not a member of the American Kennel Club (AKC) though both parent breeds are long-time members.
